weekly roundup of vintage(ish) finds, number nine
a look into what I've hearted on the real real
This week’s post has six of my hearted pieces on The Real Real, styled.
There’s a little summer and a little fall because I’m giddy with anticipation for the colder weather.
Max Mara Leather Trench Coat, $316
I know I know… it’s so hot you could fry an egg on the pavement. But soon, it won’t be, and you’ll wish you had gotten a suede trench coat.
Exhilarated doesn’t even begin to describe what I felt when I scored a vintage suede trench coat last spring (pictured below, and which I wore a total of two times before it became socially and meteorologically unacceptable).
This one below, from Max Mara, looks promising: the shade of brown suede is right, and I love the brown leather stitching to keep it all monochrome, while adding some contrast.
There are endless ways to style this, but start with a great pair of denim, a white tshirt, and some flats. If you want to chill the whole suede trench thing down a bit, wear it with a raffia bag.
Vintage 1990s Issey Miyake Top, $225
A pleated Issey Miyake top has been on my wishlist for ages, and I really want to source a vintage one. I find the shape of the pleats gorgeous — sculptural and soft at the same time. It’s like looking at art.
I’d style with fitted black pants, black ballet flats, throw my hair up, and wear a great pair of earrings.
Vintage Gucci leather bag, $295
Last year, I was rummaging through my Mom’s closet and I found this exact bag tucked in one of the shelves. I gently pulled it out of its dust bag and audibly exclaimed, “omg.” A perfect bag!!! Just sitting there!! I grilled my parents about the bag and quickly found out that it was vintage Gucci. They couldn’t put an exact date on the bag, but I had a feeling that it was from the Tom Ford era (and a little Google confirmed this).
