Dear Reader,

Did you know that for something to be considered vintage, it must be at least 20 years old? That means all the pieces from 2005 are now officially vintage.

2005 was also the year I truly fell in love with fashion. My family had just moved to Connecticut, and my dad, who worked in beauty, would receive stacks of fashion and beauty magazines. They usually ended up in my parents’ bedroom, where I’d “borrow” them to flip through—sometimes even tearing out ads or editorials I loved.

My favorite was a Chanel ad featuring Daria Werbowy.

As a newly minted 12-year-old teenager, this image represented everything I aspired to embody as a “grown-up”—sophisticated, at ease, effortless, a little edgy, and confident. Obviously, I coveted the dress and bag, too, haha.

To mark the occasion of a new year, I scoured The Real Real and curated a roundup of the best (now officially vintage!) Chanel pieces from 2005. Welcome to the club, 2005—you’re no longer vintage(ish)!

As always, I hope you find something you love.
Xx,
Natalia
