No, but you don’t understand how badly I wanted to read this. I have not heard of slideshow dressing but it perfectly sums up my desire when getting dressed! I want all of my outfits to feel cohesive and communicate a POV that feels true to me.

Practically speaking I love the outfits you wore but I also love how strong of a through line they have between one another and (truthfully) I wouldn’t notice the repeating items! I need to dive deeper on this concept; thank you for tickling my brain this morning.

Thanks for your comment, Kelly. It means a lot to me that this resonated with you. And it also got me thinking that one of the rewards/returns I crave most from personal style is a strong sense of self/POV. Testing the theory that incorporating a version of slideshow dressing could be a way to achieve this. Let me know if you try this and how it goes for you! Xx

You and I are on the same wavelength. I’m always chasing that very distinct style POV; like that someone could see an outfit and think “ah that’s very Kelly.” I actually think you have arrived there (in my mind) so I am taking your advice seriously!!

This is exactly what I needed! From one outfit repeater to another, I totally get where it can feel very much same same. I often want to wear the same things, but have to fight myself to change everything up so it feels different. I'm going to try to wear one item from the day before like you did!! I think that's such an easy shift to make things feel "new."

Yes! I do a version of this where I pick one piece from the outfit I wore the day before rather than starting from scratch or doing a full outfit carbon copy. I simply call it the Pick One Piece method, but Outfit Remixing is a far more clever name for it!

I so relate to this! I call it Domino Dressing -- it reminds me of placing the next domino using the previous. Or that childhood game of making a next sentence or declaring a song title using the last word in the one before. There is this calming familiarity in a piece that worked so well for you yesterday, and then a creative element when you fold it into something new. Thanks for writing and showing! XX

How did I miss this?! I love this perspective of outfit repeating and how the goal is to create a sense of cohesiveness that can lead to a stronger style POV. I'm also a big outfit repeater but tend to wear the same pieces together over and over, so I like that this practice would push me to slightly change things up. Definitely going to try this! Also, you make capris look so chic! x
